Security technology company Giesecke Devrient (G D) announced that it will collaborate with Brazilian banks to test an offline payment solution as part of the central bank's DREX test. The main purpose of DREX is to operate as a wholesale central bank digital currency (CBDC) solution and platform. This makes it possible for interbank settlement of tokenized deposits, aimed at encouraging innovation in the tokenized economy.
